The Morning After…

Life

Well, Oregon voted to legalize meth & I think that pretty much sums up the election. Actually, slow clap for Oregon – I don’t know if I have talked about it before but I have a very liberal attitude towards drugs. They should be legalized, regulated & taxed. I think this would reduce overdoses & it would take a lot of money & power away from gangs & cartels. In my opinion, it would also to help destigmatize conversations around addiction to these substances.

Anyway, enough election talk – I am so over this election & it sounds like we have a long slog ahead of us. In ancient Egypt, pharaohs had to engage in physical tests of strength to prove that they were strong, worthy leaders. Pestilence, famine & overall poor quality of life would be attributed to a weakling pharaoh. So, let’s do it – let’s end this shit today. Get both of these demented old fools out to Lambeau Stadium & put them to the test. In fact, everyone currently holding a political position – let’s see your fastest mile. That would certainly cull some of the detritus. Society is already regressing, it’s not like it’s that crazy of an idea.

Christmas – let’s talk about it, I think I’m going Scandinavian this year. I didn’t actually know that until I posted some photos on Instagram of these trees I found & a lovely gal pointed this out. Now though, I am seeing lots of this minimalist trend and I’m into it. Here are a few items that I recently spotted at IKEA. I am finding the clean lines & simplistic designs very appealing – it’s just Christmas-y enough.

I’m torn though because I have loads of Christmas ‘nostalgia’ pieces with pinks & blues, I love a 50’s inspired Christmas. I’m sure what will happen is that I will go jewel tones & gold in my living room, Scandinavian in the spare bedroom & nostalgia in my bedroom. I love Christmas decorations, the actual holiday is kind of a throw away for me since I’ve never been able to figure out why so many non-Christians celebrate a holiday with very religious overtones. Given the pandemic that I am sure will still be raging come Christmas, I’m not sure how merry of a holiday it will be. There won’t be any hustle or bustle this year, holiday parties – things that I didn’t even know I would miss, I am already missing. One of my favorite things to do is bake a disgusting amount of cookies for the office, for my neighbors, for pretty much anyone & I wonder if that will be permissible this year? Is Thanksgiving cancelled? I just assumed it was, I’ve never celebrated the holiday anyway but let me know.

I hope that you are happy, healthy & just doing the best you can. If you are an American, I hope that you aren’t too anxious about the current election status – hang in there!

Vote, Bitch

Life

Ah, the last day of early voting – can you smell it?! I have a bit of a rant about how the absentee process went this year. First of all, I don’t want to hear a peep from dems about voter accessibility, granted Minnesota is probably one of the most generous states with 46 days of early voting. However, most states offer early voting options, it’s frustrating to hear politicians repeat the same baseless rhetoric about lack of voting options when it’s simply untrue. While I certainly support the extended voting period, I think it was a bit abused this year – if you can vote on election day, please plan to do so.

If you requested a mail-in ballot, use it. Do not show up to a polling place saying that you requested a mail-in ballot just in case but would like to now vote in person. In case of what?! The time & money that was spent on issuing a record setting number of mail-in ballots just for them to go unused is inexcusable. Also, if someone tells me that they lost their ballot I immediately question their suitability to vote. Mail-in ballots can still be dropped off at a number of sites through election day, they will be counted. What do people think happens to these ballots? They are counted. Thank you Trump for spreading baseless rhetoric about the absentee ballot process. Don’t even get me started on the courts making a 4th quarter decision on the deadline to drop ballots off.

Do not enter a polling place with COVID – yeah, apparently this needs to be said. There will be curbside options at most precincts in Minnesota. It just really surprised me how many people asked if they could enter the building with COVID. Can you go anywhere else with COVID?! Have you been?! Aside from these idiots, polling places are pretty safe, we are following all of the recommended guidelines, sanitizing as much as possible – don’t be afraid to come vote. There are options for high risk voters, just contact your local city hall & ask! If you are not registered to vote, in Minnesota & many other states, you can register in person and vote that day! Come get registered & exercise your right to vote. We love to see it.

Don’t vote for who your favorite celebrity tells you to vote for. With the far reaching influence of social media, political celebrities are in my opinion, very dangerous. They are simply not impacted by the day to day systems that regular people are. When the going gets tough, the rich get going. Miley Cyrus’s house burns down in wildfires arguably caused by climate change, she packs up & moves. Vote for your values, vote for your needs, vote for your candidate. Taylor Swift doesn’t give a shit about you, I’m sorry if that is hard to hear. If I find out that anyone voted for Kanye, we’re going to have a conversation.

Don’t forget to vote for your local candidates! I’m always surprised by how many voters only vote for president. Your state & local government has a much greater impact on your daily life than the federal government. Some of the lines were perhaps blurred during the COVID response but check out who your local candidates are & what they are running on!

Lastly, I’ve talked to a lot of moms who are concerned about finding time to vote because their husbands will have to come home from work. Husbands – get your asses home, your wives have the right to vote just as much as anyone else.

That’s it, voting is a right that far too many Americans fail to exercise – are the candidates terrible? Yes, but the system won’t change unless the people speak up β€οΈπŸ€πŸ’™

Blogtober Day 31: 🧑 Happy Halloween πŸ§‘

Blogtober

Well, here we are – after a long day of helping people vote early, I plan to tear down my Halloween decor & maybe throw up a wreath or two. Or perhaps wait since all of the lovely snow that fell is now melted & we are going to see highs in the 60’s this coming week! Minnesota is a fickle climate, I already put all of my summer clothing away so I guess I’m just sweating it out until the temperatures drop again. Minnesotans are rather fickle creatures too, only last week I was fielding calls about when the ice rinks would open & this week complaints that the bathrooms were already closed up for the season – cannot please anyone πŸ˜€ I did not wear all black to work today, I decided to wear my Dracula leggings since it is Halloween after all. I was primarily doing back end work so it’s not like I was interacting with the public too terribly much. On my drive home I did see a few groups of trick or treaters & houses decorated which made me smile πŸ‘»

I don’t have much to talk about, it’s a bit of a melancholy day for a holiday that is traditionally packed with so much mayhem. I’m also particularly annoyed that It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown will not be on television this evening because Apple sucks. I owned a digital copy on Prime Video that is also now unavailable…even though I paid for it years ago? Please, just keep ruining my childhood. If you are looking for a throwback to when Halloween ruled, check out this collection of old commercials. I’m too young to remember some of them but they are still fun to watch! Companies used to really go all out for the holiday, I love to see it. Also, if you want some other spooky content, the Top 5s Youtube channel has been uploading almost every day this month & they have tons of good stuff!

Other than listening to some Halloween jams (check out my spooky playlist here) & watching Halloween on repeat, I don’t have anything exciting planned Oh! Actually. I have downloaded the new adaptation of The Witches movie & plan to check that out this evening. It looks like it is going to be really good! With Blogtober coming to an end, I think I’m shooting for a Monday/Wednesday/Friday blogging schedule until Blogmas. I hope you enjoyed all of the spooky content πŸ–€

Whatever you’re doing, stay safe & healthy πŸŽƒπŸ•·οΈπŸ’€

Blogtober Day 30: Halloween Tag!

Blogtober

Happy Halloween Eve! I cannot believe that it will soon be here & gone, hopefully a better time for everyone this time next year. The moon is absolutely stunning this evening, I cannot wait for tomorrow night. In celebration or perhaps lament, here is a list of Halloween-y questions, enjoy.

Shlop Regular

The theme song from Halloween, it’s my year-round ringtone. John Carpenter actually wrote the music for many of his films which I think is incredible, not only did he create some of the most notable horror flicks, he wrote some pretty creepy music.

Shlop Regular

A person, no matter what monsters I can conjure up in my mind, mankind remains the only real monster. Or fire, I’m pretty afraid of fire but then it wouldn’t be dark would it?

Shlop Regular

Of course, nothing remotely cool even happened but it was released by Parker Brothers so as a discerning 12 year old, I figured that would be the case. In general, I am not very superstitious when it comes to the Ouija Board, I have various pieces that are Ouija themed & they don’t creep me out.

Shlop Regular

Dracula or most any vampire character remains my favorite monster. Favorite horror villain would be Pinhead from Hellraiser. I had a huge crush on Pinhead when I was an adolescent, the actor out of costume is kind of nerdy looking though πŸ˜› My favorite slasher villain is Michael Myers.

Shlop Regular

I think it has to be the statues constantly falling off of the shelf in my hallway. I still don’t know why nothing seems to stay on there. It’s weird to be sitting all alone & hearing something drop to the ground without any indication as to why.

Shlop Regular

I mean, ever since my elderly neighbor passed away & was left alone in her apartment for a few days, I think my building is haunted. I think I would be fine spending the night in a haunted house as long as it wasn’t old & dirty. Like those old asylums that just look filthy…gross me out.

Shlop Regular

It depends, like the Ouija board thing, not at all. If I’m driving to work & there isn’t any traffic do I sometimes think the rapture happened? Occasionally. Flickering street lights weird me out, I think they are supposed to be bad luck. Crows, I don’t love seeing a pack of crows in the yard. Walking over graves, you know, just your regular superstitions πŸ˜€

Shlop Regular

Funny story, depending on your humor; when I get especially tired I get a dark spot in one of my eyes due to my MS. It used to scare me a lot because it does look like something was standing right in the corner of my eye. Thankfully, it’s not a homicidal maniac but a chronic illness instead πŸ˜› Usually though, I don’t see things that aren’t there.

Shlop Regular

Skinwalkers because that shit is real. I’m not talking that skinwalker ranch bullshit, I’m talking real witch doctors inhabiting the living. There’s too much old magic in the desert & on reservations to not believe in them. Have you ever driven across the Navajo Nation in the middle of the night? It’s unpleasant.

Shlop Regular

I do not enjoy needlessly grotesque body horror like the Saw movies but I love a cheesecake slasher because they are so obviously fake. If it’s a choice between a thriller or horror both of which I have not seen, I would go thriller because horror movies are just getting too realistic these days.

Shlop Regular

Yes…? Do I believe in Hell? Not really but I believe that there are perhaps different dimensions where spirits could exist. I’m also a pretty firm believer in reincarnation, unfortunately (that shit sounds exhausting) so am unsure of what kind of spirits would inhabit said spirit world.

Shlop Regular

No, I’m not super into all of that. I mean, I think science has kind of ruined witch craft at this point. Which makes very little sense seeing as how religion has survived all the advancements in technology & general knowledge but who am I to judge?

Shlop Regular

I don’t think so but also, I don’t know how many times in my life I have been truly scared. I’ve lived a pretty quiet life thus far. I have to admit though, I will never live alone in a house. My fear of a home invasion is probably mostly irrational but it’s why I keep renting a top floor apartment. Who is going to get me – Spider Man?!

Shlop Regular

Probably? Clearly it did not leave very much of an impression so I can imagine that nothing crazy happened.

Shlop Regular

Not so much anymore but there was a period of time that I thought demons & possession would be a much greater issue in my life. But alas, watch me get possessed now.

Shlop Regular

Probably just leave πŸ˜› I mean, why wait around to find out if someone is in your house or not?! Also though, I wouldn’t want to leave my cats behind so maybe I would just hide…

Shlop Regular

Halloween, I would survive – the guy can’t even run, he just walks at you. Not even speed walking, like strolling – how did he manage to kill like two dozen people?

Shlop Regular

Cat – you have such a variety of options that can be modified for any stage of your life.

Shlop Regular

Been there, done that and it wasn’t actually that scary. I grew up in a small town, the cemetery was right on the way to school but it wasn’t a creepy place. I think that it depends on the cemetery, some are so new and organized – would I go to a graveyard in Southern Louisiana at night? Absolutely not.

Shlop Regular

Science. I can’t get into the zombie thing – it just isn’t going to happen, we will see an Ebola or smallpox apocalypse before zombies.

Shlop Regular

I love a good Halloween party, I was a shy kid & always got a little stressed out during trick or treating. I loved the big party we would have at school with apple bobbing, crafts & homemade treats.

Shlop Regular

The final girl but only because I was also the killer – plot twist. But in all honesty, we all saw it coming. Ree, ree, ree, ree!

Shlop Regular

I don’t think so? If I watch a horror movie & can’t fall asleep then it’s not like watching a cartoon will make me forget what I watched. I can fixate on something to the point that everything else gets blocked out. I’m not someone who finds a lot of satisfaction in temporary distraction. Although, on any given night I do enjoy some cartoons just in general.

Shlop Regular

I could be yelling or I could be sleeping. I get so irritated when a character (usually a girl) will be running from the villain and then biffs it over seemingly nothing. All you had to do was run and not fall, moron. That really incenses me and I feel like every director everywhere just assumes that females are prone to tripping over nothing. Is that a trope? It’s grossly overused.

Shlop Regular

I don’t like scaring people. I am that person who would do it one time and cause someone to have a heart issue. We do little office pranks but they are genuinely funny, nobody is actually scared. That being said, I don’t mind a good scare – a couple of days ago I saw a sign on my drive home that said Horror with an arrow & decided to check it out. There was nothing there! I severely was disappointed, maybe they weren’t set up yet.

Shlop Regular

The Shining, if you think that the movie is scary – the book is ten times more terrifying. There are so many details about the hotel and the labyrinth that weren’t included in the movie that add so much to the atmosphere.

Shlop Regular

I was 11 when I watched Salem’s Lot, that was the benefit of having older brothers and sisters who could do things like drive to get contraband books and movies.

Shlop Regular

An elephant, is the first one that I can recall…? You know, my parents never did the pumpkin baby thing & I think I am a little bitter about it.

Shlop Regular

Crippling depression. But seriously, I am disappointed that Halloween is almost cancelled this year, I know that lots are still celebrating & I hope it’s still a good time.

Shlop Regular

I have two torties, they have black and orange markings – they are the perfect Halloween-esque cats. Also, total party poopers because they refuse to wear the witch hats that I purchased for them.

I hope you are having a spooky Halloween Eve, let me know what your plans are for Halloween this year 🧑

Blogtober Day 29: Fall Tea Haul

Blogtober

Up until about a year ago I was never a tea person, I only had it when I was sick or wanted something hot at night that didn’t have caffeine. That was until I visited the magical world of David’s Tea at Mall of America which is now sadly closed. David’s Tea offers a variety of unique tea blends & teaware to suit just about anyone’s taste, even a non-tea drinker like yours truly. You can still purchase from their online store & it’s definitely worth it for 3-4 days of delayed gratification to get your hands on these tasty teas. I first got hooked on their Christmas teas with everything from peppermint to chocolate chai, their fall flavors were just as delicious.

To start, I picked up another sachet of their Pumpkin Chai which I’ve been hooked on for the last month. It’s a black tea with pumpkin candy bits, caramel & lemon peel to name some of the top notes. It’s a creamy, dreamy chai with just a touch of sweetness.

The next one which I was skeptical about but it’s delicious is the Sweet Potato Pie, also a black tea with rock sugar, pecans, sweet potato & bits of marshmallow. All of the different add ins melted and melded together beautifully, it’s a bit on the nuttier side & a delightful treat.

I haven’t tried this one yet, I was going to try them all before I posted but then figured that I should not drink 6 cups of black tea in one day πŸ˜› Also, since these teas do have a variety of decadent add ins, I treat them more like a sweet treat than a regular beverage. That being said, I am definitely taking a little sachet of Raspberry Cream Pie with me to work tomorrow! This is a green rooibos with white chocolate chips, beet juice & hibiscus.

Then we have a lovely Vanilla Chai that I had tried & love, this one is more akin to your traditional chai blends with its spicy ginger, licorice & cinnamon blend.

And finally, since I am a big chai fan, I chose the S’mores Chai which is packed with chocolate, marshmallows & traditional chai blend.

Obviously, I’m a chai fan but they have loads of other teas too. I love the unexpected add ins like gingerbread men sprinkles or bits of popcorn like one of my favorite holiday blends has. They have prepackaged teas also, I just like the loose teas because I can control the strength of the brew. Have you tried David’s Tea? Let me know what your go to hot beverage is 🧑

Blogtober Day 28: That One Time I Dabbled in the Dark Arts

Blogtober

Or…just purchased some pagan statues because I thought they were cool πŸ˜› I’ve always had a healthy fascination in the occult, witches, familiars, tarot – I studied a lot of this as part of my Theology curriculum & loved it. I don’t think I have any abilities, personally. I have a tarot deck that I occasionally bust out but I don’t think I’m any good at it. A psychic told me that I’m an empath which total eye roll & I think my ability to read someone else’s energy has more to do with being a teacher than any special abilities. People do exhaust me but that’s a whole other issue. Anyway, my vibe is very open to anything – maybe we’ll have a sΓ©ance later.

Late last year I decided that I wanted to add some pagan pieces to my collection of religious relics. I collect a lot of religious pieces not because I am particularly religious but because they’re just beautiful to look at. Also, they’re kinda creepy which also fits in with my vibe. I found this fascinating etsy shop Master Dubrovich that primarily sells stunning hand carved figurines. Most of which are Celtic, pagan, Norse & the like. I loved how eerily beautiful they were & ordered two that most closely resembled these that he currently has for sale.

They were just as beautifully crafted as these but I’m pretty sure they were haunted & it just serves me right for poking around pagan idols πŸ˜› Here’s what happened, I received these lovely pieces in the mail & had the perfect spot for them on a floating shelf in my hallway. I don’t know if it was just me being superstitious but I definitely felt something from the figurines – not bad but something. For pieces that didn’t have traditional faces, they had so much personality & expression. They were perfect additions to my curio collection until one morning at 3 AM’ish (the witching hour) I heard one of them drop on the floor. I was actually more worried that it had been damaged at that point rather than thinking it jumped to floor of its own accord. Now, the bottoms weren’t totally flat so I just assumed it toppled over & placed it back on the shelf. Until the next morning when I walked into the hall to see it on the floor yet again. It didn’t happen every night but often enough nights that it started to spook me & depending on what mood I was in, could keep me up at night. I mean, I wasn’t losing my mind but it was odd. At this point, I called a friend who is actually into the whole wiccan thing who came over immediately to check out my statues except she kept calling them dolls which I am sure they found very insulting. She agreed that they definitely had a feeling to them but that they were inhabited not haunted to which I say – same difference. Her recommendation was to smudge them & I would love to say that we stayed up all night driving away potentially malicious spirits but we didn’t. I just gave them to her because I’m such a good friend πŸ˜› No, I figured that I had dipped my toe too far into the waters of paganism & was more suited for my rosaries & gothic idols. She loves them & has never experienced any issues, I do get a little weirded out though when I’m her place & they’re just sitting there.

Since I relinquished these mysterious figurines, I found a crystal gargoyle that now sits on the same shelf…and constantly falls off. I’ve since chalked it up to some movement in the building that must be strong enough to rattle the wall but not make an audible noise. Like, someone on the first floor slamming a door & it travels up the walls. Is that possible?! Is the shelf haunted?! I mean, I got it from IKEA so it seems unlikely πŸ˜› I own some weird, old stuff that I’ve never felt anything from & do really think there was something special about those particular pieces. I was a little sad to part with them but definitely think they found a good home. What are your thoughts on idols or figurines like this? Do they inherently have a vibe because of the subject matter or could they be inhabited? 🧑

Blogtober Day 27: Dressed to Kill (1980)

Blogtober

De Palma does Hitchcock in this thriller from 1980 starring a very foxy Michael Caine, stunning Angie Dickinson and a fresh-faced Nancy Allen. A housewife’s (Dickinson) lunch time tryst turns deadly when she is slashed to death leaving her mysterious lover’s apartment. Liz Blake (Allen) witnesses the aftermath of the gory murder and catches a glimpse of the statuesque, blonde murderess fleeing the scene with a straight razor. Michael Caine plays Dr. Robert Elliott, who was Dickinson’s therapist whom she tried to seduce prior to her untimely death and who has a former patient named Bobbi who becomes the main suspect for the murder. Peter, son of the victim, teams up with Liz who is apparently a sex-worker (I didn’t realize this until the 20th or so time that I had watched this film) team up to track down Bobbi and solve the murder. We find out that Bobbi is angry with Dr. Elliott for not approving her gender reassignment surgery and could be using this as a reason to kill off his patients. Liz and Peter concoct a plan where Liz tries to seduce the good doctor but this man is not easily seduced. While Liz is stripped down to her lingerie and digging through his Rolodex trying to get information on Bobbi, Dr. Elliott is in the back throwing on a wig and sharpening his straight razor. Yup, he turns out to be Bobbi, another shocking reveal! He attempts to murder Liz but is thwarted by Peter who bursts in and maces him.

This film is visually stunning, from the atmosphere to the costumes – it is a delight for the eyes. The cast is brilliant and the plot, while it doesn’t totally make sense, keeps you guessing until the end 🧑

Blogtober Day 26: Best of October Lifestyle

Blogtober

I can’t lie, as soon as my plastic storage bins arrive in the mail – the Halloween decor is coming down. We had a good run but I’m over it. Watch, all of this snow will melt & then I will be back in a fall mood – I’m just flaky like that πŸ˜› I anticipate spending a lot of time at home this winter, I am guessing that most everyone is. Actually, I was watching the news & apparently instead of food shortages – home goods are the next target of American panic shopping. Specifically luxury sheets, sounds pretty American. Not the luxury sheets. Anyway, I only have a few favorite things this month, enjoy!

Remember that Casaluna Comforter Set that I was all, will I, won’t I about? Well, I did & love it. One of the main reasons that I was waffling on it was because I don’t like a lot of weight on me when I’m sleeping & generally just use a knitted blanket. This comforter was described as heavyweight & I have no idea why I was drawn to it aside from it being beautiful πŸ˜› It is heavy but also very comfortable, the underneath is a soft polyester blend & the top side is a coarser linen – it’s a unique sensory experience. It’s so cozy, I don’t know how it will wash but so far so good.

I may have already talked about the cauldron mugs that Target recently had, I purchased a second one to contain my newest obsession – incense! I threw out all of the boxes so unsure of what the different flavors are but I know there is a jasmine, sandalwood & something to do with patchouli. Incense reminds me of Christmas morning, it always puts me in a good mood! I’ve never burned it since I’ve lived on my own, my mother always had something burning though & it’s such a nostalgic scent. I don’t know if all of the sticks touching will make them smell the same…?

I have a very celestial theme going on in my bedroom, it makes sense to me considering I do all of my sleeping in here. Urban Outfitters is good for some new age, moon decor for not terrible prices. This moon shelf is my newest addition, it’s really beautiful & well-made. I did not do a fantastic job of hanging it & need a brace or something at the top to keep it flush with the wall – it could have used a couple more brackets. My only complaint is that this is the second shelf I’ve purchased from them & there aren’t any screws! Drive me nuts.

I’ve been looking for a pair of black, casual boots that I can wear inside & outside. Doc Martens are my usual go to but the salt really tears up the stitching around the soles & I think I might be getting too old to be wearing Docs all of the time anyway. I dunno, is there an age limit? Anyway, I found these Keds that are super cute & very comfortable. They don’t look too snow boot-like & can be worn with most anything. I’ve so far worn them with skirts & leggings, they hit at about the same height as my Docs & have the same ankle cinching appearance. Definitely not as stiff & don’t require a break in period.

That’s it! I’m out of my favorite tea at the moment but when my order gets here, might post about it then. David’s Tea released a pumpkin chai, it’s delicious but really requires a picture to convey its full beauty. Let me know what you’ve been loving this month. Are you ready for winter or still in a fall mood 🧑

Blogtober Day 25: Best of Treehouse of Horror

Blogtober

I saw this Britney Broski meme & it was choosing between a new television show or rewatching a comfort show. I’m a comfort show person all the way & The Simpsons are my ultimate pick. The Simpsons have been on television a loooooooong time, too long in my opinion. I stopped watching them probably 10 or so seasons ago, aside from their annual Halloween Treehouse of Horror specials. I remember waiting patiently each year to watch these as a kid and getting screwed a few times because of that pesky mountain time. Those were the days when you actually had to be physically home at the time  your favorite show aired to watch it. If you aren’t familiar with these episodes please leave there are three horror stories, that sometimes parody well-known horror films or are otherwise just creepy stories. These are the episodes that I appreciate the most. I am doing these by air date since I own the actual seasons of only Treehouse of Horror episodes so I’m unsure of where they fall in the regular seasons and I’m lazy.

Pieces NFI Regular

Hands down my favorite episode – it has everything from Satan to der vampyr. In the first story, Homer sells his soul to Satan (played by Ned Flanders) for a donut. Bart is terrorized by a gremlin trying to wreck the school bus in the second story and Mr. Burns plays Dracula with wig a la Bram Stoker’s Dracula for the conclusion. There isn’t a bad story in this episode which isn’t always the case.

1993
Pieces NFI Regular

This one parodies I Know What You Did Last Summer with a twist that was just as ridiculous as the original movie ending. It has a weak filler story about Bart and Lisa acquiring superhuman powers but ends on a strong note with Homer failing to prepare the plant’s computers for Y2K and causing the crash of the technological world. Remember when we all thought that the world was going to end because computers couldn’t compute zeroes? Good times.

1999
Pieces NFI Regular

Homer goes insane in The Shinning, then travels back in time in an attempt to fix a toaster and Springfield Elementary cafeteria starts eating misbehaving children. I think  this episode has the most comical Marge line of any episode, when Bart and Lisa try convincing her that they are going to be eaten she responds with; Kids, you’re 8 & 10 years old, I can’t keep fighting all of your battles for you. Classic parent response.

cafeteris
Pieces NFI Regular

Homer is attacked by an evil Krusty the Clown Doll, the middle episode story is a lame King Kong parody and ends with Lisa turning the residents of Springfield into zombies while trying to bring her cat back to life. I also love that this episode takes place during a Halloween party at the Simpson’s’ house and Bart is rocking the classic A Clockwork Orange costume.

III
Pieces NFI Regular

This one starts out strong with the Simpsons moving into a haunted house that just so happens to be on the site of an ancient burial ground. The second story is lame, something to do with aliens overfeeding them but not wanting to eat them…? And finishes with a parody of Poe’s The Raven narrated by James Earl Jones.

The Raven

There are so many good ones but these are classic introductions to these specials. I think the only reason I will be sad to see The Simpsons retire from television is that there won’t be anymore Treehouse of Horror episodes. Did you watch these as a kid? Let me know what your favorite episodes are 🧑

Blogtober Day 24: Saturday, Saturday

Blogtober

Kim Kardashian just celebrated her 40th birthday, richer than ever & I just had a 4-hour nap. You could say we’re both thriving. I had to work very early this morning so this is just a random chit chat post.

Does anyone else feel like Halloween has come & gone? There’s already more Christmas stuff in stores & some of it’s already on sale! Meanwhile, the Halloween stuff is just sitting in a corner getting dusty. With all of the snow on the ground, I’m almost tempted to put up my Christmas stuff. Listen, it’s like I say, it’s only crazy if someone sees it. My neighbor on the other hand has already put out his outside decor – he’s clearly lost his mind πŸ˜› No, I think it’s really fun & we all deserve a two month holiday season.

I treated myself to that Casaluna linen bedding set I wanted. It was 19 degrees last night & my usual quilt was feeling a bit thin, I’ll post more about it when I have time to take daylight photos. So far, it’s a hit.

I’m taking Thanksgiving week off, I usually don’t take time off until New Years but I have time expiring & figure I’ll find something to do. I’m not going home but it will still be fun & relaxing. Having family out of state is tricky with all of the different rules & I don’t want to spread any germs unnecessarily.

I recently started a food delivery box! Hello Fresh, which I’ve tried before has a plant based option. Recently, I’ve found myself falling into old habits & meticulously calorie counting which is fine until it becomes obsessive. The thing with eating disorders is that you have to be constantly vigilant because it’s easy to slip up. Hello Fresh has helped me in the past, it’s easy to make excuses to not go grocery shopping which turns into just not eating. It makes cooking & food kind of fun for someone who isn’t fond of either of them 😊

Don’t forget to vote – lots of states have early (absentee) voting options. You don’t have to wait until Election Day! In some countries, you can be arrested for not voting so let that sink in πŸ˜›
