Blogtober Day 24: Saturday, Saturday

Kim Kardashian just celebrated her 40th birthday, richer than ever & I just had a 4-hour nap. You could say we’re both thriving. I had to work very early this morning so this is just a random chit chat post.

Does anyone else feel like Halloween has come & gone? There’s already more Christmas stuff in stores & some of it’s already on sale! Meanwhile, the Halloween stuff is just sitting in a corner getting dusty. With all of the snow on the ground, I’m almost tempted to put up my Christmas stuff. Listen, it’s like I say, it’s only crazy if someone sees it. My neighbor on the other hand has already put out his outside decor – he’s clearly lost his mind ๐Ÿ˜› No, I think it’s really fun & we all deserve a two month holiday season.

I treated myself to that Casaluna linen bedding set I wanted. It was 19 degrees last night & my usual quilt was feeling a bit thin, I’ll post more about it when I have time to take daylight photos. So far, it’s a hit.

I’m taking Thanksgiving week off, I usually don’t take time off until New Years but I have time expiring & figure I’ll find something to do. I’m not going home but it will still be fun & relaxing. Having family out of state is tricky with all of the different rules & I don’t want to spread any germs unnecessarily.

I recently started a food delivery box! Hello Fresh, which I’ve tried before has a plant based option. Recently, I’ve found myself falling into old habits & meticulously calorie counting which is fine until it becomes obsessive. The thing with eating disorders is that you have to be constantly vigilant because it’s easy to slip up. Hello Fresh has helped me in the past, it’s easy to make excuses to not go grocery shopping which turns into just not eating. It makes cooking & food kind of fun for someone who isn’t fond of either of them ๐Ÿ˜Š

Don’t forget to vote – lots of states have early (absentee) voting options. You don’t have to wait until Election Day! In some countries, you can be arrested for not voting so let that sink in ๐Ÿ˜›

Stay happy & healthy ๐Ÿงก

March Happenings

Everyone is seemingly of the opinion that January is a long schlep of an uneventful month but March is that month for me. It’s still kinda winter, nobody knows what to wear, produce is terrible. I’m glad to see the end of it, I’ve been gone for a bit so let’s have a catch-up!

My new car is still the main event of this past month. I definitely like it and am happy to report that I sold the Mazda to someone who seemed excited to fix it. I think it will ride again ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I think that I found the most amazing burger replacement ever. I picked up these Beyond Meat patties randomly even though I’m not big into meat replacements and I’m so glad I did! They have a grilled flavor to them and the texture is perfect, not at all like a mashed bean patty. I definitely recommend!

I didn’t read a single book in March and I blame Desperate Housewives and BuzzFeed Unsolved for my lack of reading time. I do plan to read more in April but if the weather gets really good, I might whiff again ๐Ÿ˜

Lent has been trying and we’re not even half-way through, I’m not having trouble sticking to my penitence but I’m getting burnt out on going to mass. I think I’m the only person under 60 at my church, where are all of the hot Irish Catholic guys?! It doesn’t bother me when I’m only going once a week but when it’s three times a week, I want some eye candy! I don’t think that’s too much to ask.

Not much else to report, our busy season is ramping up at work but I have some fun excursions scheduled in the coming months. How was your month, what did you get up to?

From Trend to Lifestyle

Welcome to A Lifestyle Trend, a former beauty junkie’s journey to a more sustainable lifestyle. After numerous years of posting primarily about makeup, beauty and skincare I started feeling jaded with the whole beauty community. The excess, the new releases, the gurus, the waste all left me feeling uninspired. After an unsuccessful rebrand, I decided to start fresh with a new blog that is less beauty-centric. I still love makeup, nothing has changed there but I have found products that work for me and I am less interested in trying new ones. I’m not saying that I’ll never try a new product or post about beauty again but I will be seeking out brands that are more conscious when it comes to sustainability and waste. Having recently completed a successful Veganuary (and having no intention of turning back), I will also be exploring more vegan friendly brands and of course, cruelty free ones as well.

What else can you expect from A Lifestyle Trend? Anything that I feel like posting about, I am not committing to any niche – books, movies, recipes, politics, anti-consumerism and yes, even a little minimalism could show up here. I know what you’re thinking, sounds like a lot of trendy bullshit. And honestly, I don’t disagree. A Lifestyle Trend was in part inspired by a friend telling me that the vegan movement was just a trend. Which, certainly may be accurate but I also believe that these trends can become lifestyles and what’s wrong with that? There are certainly worse trends out there (corduroy). I won’t claim to be an expert on any of these topics, I plan to share the struggles of committing to this new lifestyle as a way to show people that small changes can produce big results (in the least preachy way possible).

I am excited to start this new endeavor, I am not yet decided on a posting schedule and this might be all that you see from me for awhile but I hope you’ll stick around!

Oh, also, cat pics – you can expect a lot of those.
